After years of anticipation and planning, Chestermere is finally set to welcome a new addition to our community with the establishment of an age care facility. The positive news has been met with enthusiasm from the city officials, marking a significant step forward in meeting the long-standing need for senior care facilities in the area. The four-story facility will be situated in Dawson’s Landing on Merganser Drive West.
AgeCare, a renowned company specializing in senior care, is spearheading this initiative under its development arm, Hestia. The project aims to address the growing demand for quality senior living options, providing essential services and support for older adults in Chestermere and surrounding areas.
Ritesh Narayan, City Councillor of Chestermere, expressed his excitement, stating, “It is definitely a long time coming. Very excited to see the project moving.” The journey towards this milestone has been years in the making, with discussions and negotiations dating back to previous administrations. However, with persistent efforts and collaboration between stakeholders, including the city council and developers, the vision is finally becoming a reality. The development promises to fulfill a crucial need identified through extensive needs assessments.
“We are excited to provide this service for the seniors,” remarked Dr. Hasmukh Patel, Executive Chairman of AgeCare. “Seniors have waited a long time, and the building is fantastic looking.”
The new senior homes in Chestermere will offer a total of 207 beds, providing a range of care options including supportive living, dementia care, and long-term care. With such comprehensive facilities, the development will require approximately 200 staff members to ensure the smooth operation and high-quality service delivery. This project will not only benefit seniors but also contribute to the local economy by creating job opportunities.
The new senior homes will feature an array of amenities designed to enhance the quality of life for residents. These include a child daycare, a hair salon, a fitness center, a bistro, education rooms, and a family room, catering to the diverse needs and interests of seniors. The facility will also offer underground parking and outdoor green space for residents to enjoy.
“Unique thing in Chestermere Agecare is that we’ll have a child daycare within our facility. This creates a very valuable intergenerational programming,” said Dr. Patel.
The planned commercial plaza in Dawson’s Landing is poised to become bustling hubs of activity, offering a diverse array of shops, restaurants, and services. The close proximity to these commercial developments ensures that residents will have easy access to daily necessities and leisure activities, further enriching their quality of life.
With construction underway and completion expected in the spring/summer of 2026, anticipation builds for the positive impact these senior homes will have on Chestermere’s residents. They will not only provide comfortable living spaces but also foster a sense of belonging, creating a brighter future for seniors in Chestermere.
