Every Tuesday evening, without fail, and sometimes even in poor weather, you can catch members of Chestermere’s Car Community hanging out at their meeting spot, Dockside Bar & Grill, enjoying the company of one another and showing off the vehicles they love.
“Its a love of doing something you want to do” says Bill Mollerson, a local classic car collector and enthusiast. Bill has been a part of the local scene for over a decade, putting his own elbow grease and care into the vehicles he’s come to own over the years. His was only one of many vehicles perched lakeside.
“There’s what we call a trailer queen, and a driver – everything I own, I drive…I love driving ’em. These aren’t computerized cars, they’re mechanical.”
Everyone is welcome to come browse the vehicles during the show, or even bring a vehicle of their own to display. Although some may arrive as early at 4pm, the lot really begins to fill closer to 5pm.
Although the warmer weather during the summer undoubtedly makes it easier for the group to meet and show off their rides, they also make a point to meet up and talk shop even when they aren’t able to enjoy the sun.
If you love vehicles or classic cars, Chestermere certainly has a unique scene to explore. Be sure to drop by Dockside during Show and Shine day to experience it for yourself – every Tuesday from the beginning of May till mid-September. 6-8 PM at Chestermere Landing: 109 East Chestermere Drive.
