Canada Day Festivities took over Chestermere over the weekend, with thousands gathering in John Peake Park to join the celebrations. Starting off with a free pancake breakfast, attendees were able to enjoy a day filled with family fun and entertainment, including musical performances, kids’ activities – including the annual Tug of War with the Fire Department – and more. Mayor and Council even joined in to lend a helping hand as well!

Entertainment was featured throughout the duration of the event, with performances from local artists like Trina Morgan, Alex Roberecki, Cat Tyler, and others. Dance performances were also featured with representation from several different cultural organizations like Wild Mint Arts, Young Bhangra, and Abstract Dance Academy.
At 1pm, cake was served to hungry attendees after the singing of the national anthem. A Beer Garden also provided a wide selection of different beverages, courtesy of Township 24 Brewery, making for a festive evening! Food trucks crowded the area while stilt walkers roamed for fun photographs with families on the pier. Wagon rides (a Chestermere signature attraction) were also provided, free of charge to any who wanted to roam!

Goats and sheep could be heard mewing as a petting corral set up shop for some additional family fun with the kids! Although fireworks would be rescheduled due to poor weather, Sunday would make way for more festivities before the show.
Overall, Canada Day in Chestermere was a magnificent success and a chance for residents to come together to enjoy a beautiful evening in our beautiful city.
