The City of Chestermere is partnering on a grant opportunity with local organizations including the Chestermere Women’s Crisis Society, Synergy, and Rocky View Immigrant Services through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) called CanWILL Inclusive Community Initiatives.
The purpose of this grant is to support Canadian women in local leadership. This project was implemented by FCM in collaboration with key national partners and funded by the federal government through Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE).
The program aims to address the barriers that women face when running for municipal office, while also improving the community once elected to ensure their participation. This includes addressing sexism or racism, which have been known as significant obstacles to women’s participation. The hope is to create a space where everyone is welcomed and motivated to practice leadership in their interests.
We are conducting a survey as part of Chestermere’s role in promoting parity in the community.
If you can, please take a few minutes to answer our survey below so we can get a better insight into how our community can improve and what we are doing well. In addition, we hope to share this information with the community for opportunities to grow and evaluate how we run programs and services and informing policies. The survey responses are entirely anonymous and will be open from February 6th to March 6th.
If you identify as a woman and are further interested in participating in workshops related to empowerment and leadership in the spring/summer, please see the link provided within the survey or reach out via email.
