Founded in 2011, this local organization is dedicated to preserving Chestermere’s history and providing education about the early days of life in the Chestermere area for adults and children.
Objectives Of The Chestermere Historical Foundation Include:
- Creating a public interest in local and regional history with particular focus on the rail, irrigation and agricultural influence.
- Discovering, preserving and perpetuating facts and artifacts relevant to an appreciation of the history of Chestermere.
- Making historic artifacts available to all interested parties where possible.
- Promoting, preserving and restoring historic entities with significance to Chestermere
- Documenting Chestermere history in words and pictures, including family histories and the history of local clubs and associations.
- Educating about local history
- Encouraging and supporting historical events and programs working cooperatively with other agencies to this end
- Working in cooperation with the Town of Chestermere, other local municipalities and regional historical societies to fulfill the objectives of the society
- Encouraging research and publications relating to the history of Chestermere
CHF provides family friendly one-hour programs most months of the year (third Tuesdays 2pm) at the Chestermere 55+ Centre at the CRCA 201 W Chestermere Drive.
Historical installations can be found at the Chestermere Public Library (photos), Scotiabank ( vintage restored Quebec heater) and City Hall ( replica 1917 Red Cross Quilt)
