Ivan Erickson RCASG – Heather’s Uncle (right in picture)
As Chestermere does not have a known Silver Cross Mother we have asked Heather Davies, a longtime resident of Chestermere, to lay a wreath in honour of Silver Cross Mothers across Canada!
Heather has an extensive and honourable family military history which includes numerous family members who served our country with honour and bravery.
Heather’s Grandfather, James Clifford Campbell served in WW1 in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in France & Belgium. Heather’s Dad, Gordon Erickson was too young to join, although he tried to lie about his age but to no avail; however her Uncle, Elmer Erickson served as a paratrooper in WWII who was wounded on the Beaches of Normandy.

Her Uncle, Donald Erickson served in the RCAF as an aircraft mechanic in Weisbaden, Germany for several years, as well as in Manitoba & Alberta. Several of her Dad’s cousins, including Christen Erickson & Torof Erickson also served in WWII in Europe.

This story and countless others need to be shared. before they are lost. The courage and selflessness of generations that fought for our freedoms have much to teach us. On Nov 11th, let us honor our heroes and celebrate the freedoms for which they fought.
