A Discussion Following a Report for Information from the City’s Community Grant Coordinator, Muriel Gavilan, In Tuesdays Council Meeting Garnered High and Well-deserved Praise for the Presenter and the Rest of the Team in Community Services.
Muriel shared an overview of the Human Services Advisory & Grant
Funding Adjudication Committee, which combines what were two separate streams of grant funding into one committee. In her presentation, she touched on three grant types available from the City of Chestermere, which are Human Services Advisory Grants, Community Grants, ant Vitality Grants. In 2022 funding allocations totaling $359,981 were given out to the proposals chosen for all three grant types.
Earlier this month, the recipients of the 2023 Human Services Advisory Grants were shared with the public. Detailed information on the recipient programs can be found here.
During Council’s questions to Muriel, Councillor Shannon Dean took the opportunity to compliment Muriel based on his interactions with her from his “other life” in the not-for-profit community. “I have nothing but good things to say about Muriel,” he said before continuing to describe her as helpful, available, and responsive. He didn’t stop with Muriel; he commented on how “when any of our community members have questions,” the entire Community Services department is “super helpful.” As he spoke, members of the meeting audience were nodding in agreement.
