Chestermere welcomes the flavours of Italy with the newly opened Sorelle Italian Bakery. Sorelle has quickly become a beloved destination for those seeking an authentic Italian experience. In just a couple short weeks, it has garnered a loyal following.
Deborah Solda, the talented baker and entrepreneur behind Sorelle, is not new to the world of baking. Solda’s culinary adventure began in Lacombe, Alberta, with her first bakery called Sweet Capone’s.
“We opened a cannoli shop in Lacombe, and it was successful,” said Solda. Her journey into Italian baking began when she met her husband, who hails from Italy. His mother introduced her to the world of authentic Italian recipes, inspiring her to create her own.
The bakery’s sweet success even led to an extraordinary opportunity. Deborah continues, “We were chosen by the Winter Games Committee to provide pastries for their Gala Event in Red Deer, just two months after opening. “It was a massive event; I was somewhat nervous, but we received great reviews,” said Solda.
“My husband Claude and I have moved many times in our lifetime, but we finally found our forever home in Chestermere, a home close to the lake, and we fell in love with it,” said Solda.
“I have kept and stored most of my commercial equipment, which has followed me from Strathmore, Didsbury, Calgary, and now Chestermere. Chestermere is where it stays; Chestermere is our home now.”
The overwhelming support from the community has led Deborah to consider taking the bakery to a higher level. Their vision is to continue expanding and providing Chestermere with delightful Italian pastries and bread. We are thrilled to be able to welcome them to Chestermere!
