Seniors Week holds a special place in the hearts of Albertans, as it commemorates the rich history and lasting impact of seniors in the province. The tradition of Seniors Week began in Alberta in 1986 when the government officially designated the first week of June as a time to honor and recognize seniors. Since then, the annual celebration has evolved to become a platform for showcasing the vitality, wisdom, and contributions of seniors in all facets of society.
The success of Seniors Week in Chestermere owes much to the hard work and dedication of non-profit organizations such as The Older Adults Coalition of Chestermere, Lakeshore Manor, Synergy, Chestermere Historical Foundation, the Chestermere Senior Services Inc, and The Whitecapper Association that tirelessly hosted a series of engaging and diverse events. These organizations, driven by their commitment to supporting seniors’ well-being and quality of life, played a vital role in ensuring the week-long festivities were inclusive, entertaining, and meaningful.

Equally remarkable was the support of over 100 dedicated volunteers who selflessly contributed their time and energy to ensure the smooth running of the events. These volunteers played a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, assisting with logistics, and ensuring the needs and comfort of attendees were met. Their commitment and enthusiasm exemplified the spirit of community engagement and showcased the power of collective action in making a difference.
