An Event Was Held at Lakeshore Manor on November 24th For a Community of Punjabi Speaking Seniors.
The purpose was to create an opportunity to share information in regards to city supports, services, resources and programs. The event was organized by Gurkiran Randhawa, where she and her husband Amandeep shared information from guests and translated it in their own language, Punjabi.
Gurkiran felt that there was a need for this group of Punjabi community seniors to get together to not only be informed of what is available, but also to help them feel more welcomed and comfortable in the community. Also, to hear how they could seek help with their needs.
The Event Was Made Possible Via Gurkiran Applying For the City’s Vitality Grant Program.
Over 30 people attended the info session where they also enjoyed catered food and had the opportunity to play some cards as well.
Special guests who were in attendance at the event included Councillor Narayan and two local RCMP officers, who answered questions and shared information on things such as supports for seniors, social media theft, etc.
Over-all the event was a success where attendees enjoyed themselves and felt they received very good information in regards to safety and the cities supports and programs that are available.
