This past Friday, staff members from the City of Chestermere and Chestermere Fire Department took part in a simulation as part of the Wheatland Regional Emergency Management Partnership. The objective of the simulation was to understand our preparedness and response in a disastrous scenario pertaining to Emergency Management and our operations.
39 agencies participated with close to 250 personnel from across the entire region. Additionally, 80 high school drama students from both Chestermere and Strathmore also participated, volunteering to play the part first as patients, and then evacuees. Their participation provided a unique and real component for our first responders. Thank you to all our volunteers who helped make this exercise possible!
Municipal staff also played a critical role supporting operations in the Emergency Command Centre, Incident Command Posts, as well as the Emergency Social Services Site.
Thank you to everyone who participated, and to all the agencies involved who continue to lend their support to keep our communities safe.
